TCM Dermatology Specialization Certificate
Overview:
ACTCM is proud announce that it is the first Chinese medicine college in the U.S. to offer a specialization certificate in TCM Dermatology. The post-graduate TCM Dermatology Specialization Certificate Program is scheduled to launch in January of 2011. Although TCM Dermatology is well established in China, there are only a few classes available in the U.S. ACTCM recognizes the need for developing the art and science of TCM Dermatology and is delighted to offer this program to its graduates and other qualified practitioners.
Curriculum:
This unique 264-hour certificate program will include didactic instruction on common and/or hard-to-treat dermatological conditions such as: acne, lupus, rosacea, scleroderma, ulcers, vitiligo and warts. Additionally, the curriculum includes 90 hours of clinical training, including clinic theater, grand rounds, and instruction in compounding herbal pastes, creams and other external applications.
Faculty:
The certificate program will be taught primarily by Professor Jialing Yu, core faculty in both the Masters and Doctoral programs at ACTCM. Professor Yu received degrees in dentistry and Western dermatology before completing her Doctorate of Chinese Medicine in Shendong, China, where she did extensive research in TCM Dermatology. Her rigorous training prepared her to be a leading educator and practitioner of TCM Dermatology in the U.S. Guests lecturers will include Toby Maurer, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology at UCSF and Chief of Dermatology at San Francisco General Hospital, among others.
Prerequisite:
Requierment for admission into the specialization certificate is completion of ONE of the following ACTCM Master’s Program courses: TCM Dermatology OR External Medicine.
In order to complete the certificate program, students must complete BOTH TCM Dermatology and External Medicine. Professor Yu will offer special sections of these courses concurrently during of the certificate program for students enrolled in the certificate program.

Schedule:
2 day meetings (Sunday and Monday) every six weeks (January 2011 - June 2012)
Cost:
$500 deposit (due by October 15, 2010), plus $3,000 Tuition (quarterly payment plan available)
