Community
Services for Entering Students in Fall 2007
We believe
that participating in community services is a very important part
for the graduate students' education at American College of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. ACTCM has had a long history in encouraging and
supporting students to actively engage in working in the community.
Examples include the founding of ACTCM herbal garden, the student
representative to the Board of Directors, the establishment of Student
Council, and student participation in the 25th Anniversary Committee
and the Graduation Committee. The Scholarship Committee requires
applicants to demonstrate community service activities when they
apply for the Harris Scholarship Fund. We have noted that some of
our graduates who were active in community service while being students
at ACTCM, have gone on to become leaders in AOM education and professional
organizations.
We believe
that it is important that all ACTCM students have a community service
experience. Many other AOM colleges have such a requirement, which
benefits the students, the college and the field. As of Fall 2007,
all entering ACTCM students will have 30-hour required community
service component during their program at ACTCM.
