Individuals wishing to practice acupuncture in California must first
obtain a state license, which requires qualifying for and passing
California’s State Board Exam. The written examination tests the
competency of entry-level acupuncturists.
August, 2005
We’re pleased to announce that ACTCM’s test-takers of the August,
2005 California State Board Exam boasted an 89% passing rate. The
state average for test-takers was a 66% passing rate.
January, 2005
We’re delighted to report that ACTCM’s 1st time test takers boasted
a 73% passing rate for the January, 2005 California State Board
Exam. The state average for 1st time test-takers was a 63% passing
rate.

National Exam Results
Passing the National Exam and earning a credential from the National
Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(NCCAOM)
represents a significant professional achievement. NCCAOM certification
makes an important statement about professional competence that
is recognized by regulatory bodies, the profession, and the public.
The National Exam consists of five modules:
Foundations of Oriental Medicine Module (FOMM)
Acupuncture Module (AM)
Biomedicine Module (BIOM)
Point Location Module (PLM)
Chinese Herbology Module (CHM)
