ACTCM is approved to
participate in U.S. federal and state financial aid programs and
Canadian loan programs.
What does this mean?
ACTCM students who are U.S. citizens or
permanent
residents may finance their educational costs using the low cost
U. S. government guaranteed Federal Stafford Loan Program , the Federal Work Study Program , Federal Perkins Loans and
Americorps. Canadian students may use the Canadian provincial and national loan
programs. Other international students may be eligible for privately
funded educational loans provided a cosigner is provided who is
a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
How do I get the money?
All applicants who are U.S. citizens or
permanent residents must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet other requirements. Students who are
Canadian citizens must apply through the national or provincial Ministries of Education in Canada.
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants must be admitted to the Masters
Program, be enrolled at least half time, be making satisfactory
progress toward completion of the program, and be US Citizens or
permanent residents. Recipients of Canadian aid must be Canadian
citizens or permanent residents enrolled full-time. DAOM students
are eligible for privately funded educational loans but not for
federal aid.

What period does this cover?
For U.S. Citizens and permanent
residents
the 2007-2008 application covers periods of enrollment beginning Summer
2007 through Spring 2008. The 2007-8 application, which will be
available January 2007, covers periods of enrollment beginning Summer
2007 through Spring 2008.
How much can I get?
U.S. citizens or permanent residents may borrow
up to $18,500 in the Federal Stafford Loan Program per 3 quarters
of study. Up to $8,500 of this amount is interest free while enrolled.
Additional funding, up to the full Cost of Education less other
resources, is available in the Federal Grad Plus Loan program. The
Grad Plus loan is intended to supplement the Federal Stafford Loan.
Federal Work-Study awards are made in limited amounts to fund on-campus
and community service employment. Federal Perkins Loans are made in small amounts to the applicants with the greatest financial need.
Americorps awards are earned through public service. Eligibility
for privately funded educational loans varies depending on lender
policy and the student financial aid budget. Effective July 1st
2007, eligible students may receive up to $12,500 in an Unsubsidized
Loan each year. A student can only received up to $20,500 in a
combined total of Susubsidized and Unsubsidized Loans each year.
What is this money for?
Financial aid funds are provided to cover
direct educational costs and a modest and reasonable allowance for
living expense.
How will funds be disbursed?
Federal Stafford, Federal Grad Plus,
private loans, and Federal Perkins Loans are disbursed in equal disbursements for each quarter included in the loan period. Stafford,
Grad Plus and private loan funds will be delivered electronically
by the lender to the school. Once funds are disbursed to the school,
tuition and fees are deducted from the loan proceeds and any remaining
balance is made available in the form of a school check normally
on the 3rd Monday of each quarter after 2pm in Administration. Federal
Work-Study funds are disbursed as earned by paycheck. Other aid
is disbursed as directed by the funding agency.
What about tuition payment?
ACTCM policies apply. New students are
expected to pay a $300 deposit. .Tuition is normally due on the scheduled date of loan disbursements. Payment may be deferred at
the discretion of the Office of Financial Administration if a financial
aid application has been completed including loan certification
by the Financial Aid Office. Payment plans are available from the
Office of Financial Administration.
