Dear
Prospective Students:
The
American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) invites
you to join the Board of Directors, faculty, staff, students and
alumni to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ACTCM. Since 1980, the
College has provided excellent Traditional Chinese Medical education
as well as low cost health care to thousands of patients. The College
has a strong commitment to advancing Traditional Chinese Medicine
into our health care system throughout the United States.
Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM) goes back over 3,000 years. It grew out of
a desire to maintain good health, and from the need to treat various
conditions and diseases. Over the centuries, the Chinese people
learned the benefits of natural herbs, acupuncture, healthy food
and proper diet, Tui Na (massage),Tai Ji and Qigong. Today, Traditional
Chinese Medicine is practiced in hospitals in China side by side
with western medicine, and people receive great benefits from receiving
both forms concurrently. We are delighted that this collaborative
approach to medicine is now occurring in America.
At ACTCM,
our faculty is committed to educational excellence. Many of our
faculty members received their medical training in both TCM and
western medicine. We have a creative mixture of faculty members
trained in China and in the United States, both offering invaluable
contributions to our educational system. ACTCM’s faculty,
alumni and students have successfully brought TCM into hospitals
and community health care clinics. We are proud that our teaching
clinics serve patients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, offering
treatments for a variety of conditions, including HIV/AIDS, stroke,
breast cancer, detox, hospice, etc. Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM) helps many people reduce their suffering, prevents and treats
diseases, maintains good health, and promotes balance and harmony
in health and in life.
The
College has recently improved its curriculum for the Masters of
Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine degree program and has
received approval from the accreditation commission to offer a clinical
doctorate program with specialization in women’s health and
pain management. Our newly acquired facility, which houses classrooms,
offices, a student lounge, study areas, and a significantly expanded
library, provides enhanced resources for the faculty and students.
Our vision is to become the pre-eminent educational institution
of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in North America.
Health
care is very important to every one of us. If we have the knowledge
and skills, we can truly benefit many people and make a difference
in the world.
Thank
you for your interest in the American College of Traditional Chinese
Medicine.
Sincerely
yours,
- Lixin Huang, President -
